Properties:
White, odorless granules or crystalline powder. It is soluble in alcohol, slightly soluble in water and in ether, and very slightly soluble in chloroform. It has no hygroscopicity, and will sublime at 200°C. Boiling point: 290°C(decompose). It will turn to maleic anhydride at 230°C, and will generate DL-malic acid if boiled with water.

Application:
As food sourness agent,fumaric acid plays an important role in bacteriostasis and antisepsis ,which is used as acidity regulator acidulant,temperature resistance oxidation assistant ,bloat accelerant and flavor fumaric acid is the intermediate for fine chemicals like medicament and optics bleacher and so forth in medicament industry, it is used to produce the alexipharmic sodium sodium dimercaptosuccinate and the ferrous fumarate that cures microcyte anemia.Fumaric acid is also used to produce unsaturated polyester resin and also is the main raw material of producing L-aspartic acid.
