Properties: white hexagonal crystal or amorphous powder. Water solution is alkaline, the Relative density is2.36g/cm3. It can solute in acid and ammonium salt, almost insoluble in water and alcohol. In water solubility degree (18 ℃) is 0009g/100g . Easy to absorb carbon dioxide in the air. At 350 ℃,decomposed into magnesium oxide and water. Above 500 ℃, lose water into magnesium oxide.
Magnesium hydroxide is a kind of environmentally friendly Flame Retardant with excellent smoke suppression, widely used in PVC, CPVC, PE, EPDM and other unsaturated polyesters, it’s also used in nuclear power plant cable and ocean optic cable, the electrical household appliances, the board of material.
Other application: Flue gas desulphurization; Neutralizer of acid waste water in drinking water purification and wastewater treatment; as Oil additives, it plays an important role in mercury removal, desulphurization, filter aid, bleaching, and adsorption of heavy metal;
Neutralizer and inhibitors in food, Pharmaceutical industries.
